Benchmark Senior Living (BSL) is undertaking the construction of a new ground-up assisted living community on undeveloped land in Fairfield, CT. The site is located adjacent to an existing nursing home and across the street from a local high school. The project is comprised of approximately 84,000 sf of Assisted Living (AL) and Memory Care (MC) residences and supporting common spaces on three levels. Below a portion of the facility will be a 21,000 sf fiffty space parking garage. Many amenities were designed for use by the residents including bistro pub, private and main dining rooms, activity and art areas, spa, massage therapy and exercise rooms, lounges, library and entertainment rooms. Exterior walking paths will circuit the facility and a secure outdoor courtyard will provide gardening opportunities for the memory care residents. Much care was taken to integrate the new facility into its surroundings and comply with the local wetlands commission requirements. View studies were provided to demonstrate how the rooflines of the building will blend into the residential neighborhood. The project will be heated and cooled with a state-of-the-art VRF (variable refrigerant low) system, yielding high efficiency and maximum comfort.
