Adelaide of Newton Centre

Adelaide of Newton centre is a memory care community within the Benchmark family, with sixty-one person all memory care residences. The project retained the oldest building on site, re-purposing the structure. The plan encloses an exterior courtyard: allowing residents to be in constant contact with an exterior space. A central goal was to enhance the sense of community by creating vibrant program spaces accessible to residents. All common spaces and passageways have interactive elements such as puzzles or music. Material selections, textures and lighting were developed with the resident foremost in mind: tunable light without glare, sturdy cleanable surfaces, and warmth in material choices, all create a calming residential, less institutional, feel.
