Watertown Savings Bank
Waltham, MA
Watertown Savings Bank (WSB) newest location is in the new re-imagined 1265 Main Street campus in Waltham, MA where it was once the site of a polaroid factory. For WSB this will be the 10TH branch for its company which built their first branch in Watertown Square, Watertown, MA back in 1870. The entrance vestibule, comprised of glass curtain walls and smooth faced sandstone, will be seen from various locations of the campus and will glow like a beacon from hanging pendants at night. This vestibule stands over 20FT tall which leads to a spacious interior lobby and surrounding offices along the outside. The image of the building was extremely important to the owner which led to the selections of a combination of masonry. The tower is built from a smooth faced sandstone while the rest of the building is a combination of split-face sandstone at the base of the building and red brick above a sandstone water table. Large punched openings line the facade allowing natural light to flood the interior space of the bank.
