Urie
Residence
Winchester, Massachusetts
This late 1800's carriage house is located on a bucolic site in Winchester, Massachusetts. The house has seen many additions and renovations both good and bad in its lifetime. Our project consisted of a renovation encompassing the entire house. The exterior renovation consisted of new windows; new siding; a new roof with dormers. Much care was taken to integrate these new dormers with the existing roof lines. On the interior, the owner wanted to retain some of the houses original character while reworking the floor plan to simplifying circulation, and give the house a more open, slightly modern feeling. Most walls were removed and or relocated, and new finishes were applied. The existing flooring was removed and replaced for continuity. Interior systems were removed and updated, including new radiant floor heating in the bathrooms; and central air and sound throughout the entire house. Construction was completed in the fall of 2005.
