Jewish Community Day School

The Jewish Community Day School is a Kindergarten to Grade 8 day school not affiliated with any single denomination, but striving to attract participation from across the spectrum of Jewish life. The new home features classrooms, synagogue, lunch room, library, art and science lab, with the supporting administrative offices. As the school uses corridor walls as places to display and teach, the design allows for gathering spaces outside of the classrooms for group projects, individual teacher student meetings, or parent conferences. The main entry is home to the school’s “Town Square,” a space that connects the library to the synagogue, culminating with a tiered amphitheatre. The desire is to focus the visitor to the life and excitement for learning that the school instills in its students. Construction was completed in July 2003 at a cost under fifty dollars per square foot.
