The DeCordova Museum and Sculpture Park sits on nearly thirty acres of natural landscape and wooded parkland. The program for the new addition called for housing the Museum’s extensive permanent collection, as well as support exhibit preparation, conservancy, and receiving spaces. Broken into three separate forms, the building mass uses materials that reiterate the existing brick and stone of the earlier construction and the original DeCordova Mansion. The 16,000 square foot design blends with the landscape by incorporating the visible stone ledge features, and stonewalls that replicate those found throughout the property. Anticipated completion date: Fall, 2003.
