Polartec Manufacturing Building
Malden Mills Industries
Lawrence, Massachusetts
Following a devastating fire that destroyed many of the pre-existing manufacturing facilities Malden Mills vowed to reconstruct a new modern facility that would not only be a tribute to their employees but to the rich history of the Lawrence textile era. The new building compliments and pays tribute to the 19th century brick structures which were lost, as well as those that still remain in the area. A 100-foot stair tower, the only structure to have survived the fire, has been restored and serves both in tribute and in function within the main entry court. State-of-the-art materials and a contemporary synthesis of rhythm scale and texture reflects the time in which the new building was constructed.
